Wyatt Alvin Cripe

I wanted to share with you the story of Wyatt's arrival! Don't worry, it's not graphic:)
May 1, 2010 was just a typical Saturday...although Clint did not have to work, which isn't normal for a Saturday! That morning, we decided to go for a walk, hoping that this would trigger labor! Well, apparently that worked for us! What I thought would be a nice walk ended up turning into an hour long walk! Not being able to move as fast as I once was able to, I didn't realize how long it would take me to get around!:) We got home, ate lunch, and Clint decided to go mushroom hunting with his dad. It was about two hours after our walk when the contractions started!
I was completely in denial, just assuming that these were braxton hicks contractions and not the real thing. But they started to get a little more intense and I was starting to wonder when Clint would be coming home!:) When he did arrive home, we called his mom and aunt Sue to get an idea from the nurses of when they thought we should go to the hospital. I seem to recall Clint saying, "She thinks she is having contractions". I'm pretty sure I threw something at him...I didn't think anything, I knew that's what was happening! By about 5:30 or so, they were getting pretty close together...they were painful, but I thought I would be dying when I had them and I wasn't...so I'm still assuming they're fake...haha. When Clint told his mom that I was lying in the fetal position, she told us to get to the hospital!
We arrived at about 6:45 and the nurse said that I was already dilated 4 cm and ready to go! I assumed she'd send us home!:) It was at this time when they realized that Wyatt's heart rate was dropping every time I had a contraction...and all at once there were tons of nurses surrounding us. It was a bit scary for both of us! Dr. Weaver arrived and explained that the cord was probably wrapped and that she would most likely need to do an emergency c-section. Not what I wanted to hear, but I knew I needed to trust her. It's so neat how God works in moments like that and just covers you in peace! I knew I just needed to trust that Dr. Weaver would do what was best for Wyatt and me. So, once the decision was final, Wyatt was born at 8:09 pm! Clint said the cord was wrapped around his neck and around his body! So thankful for the technology we have these days, otherwise our little guy might not be here! He was healthy and perfect!
What a day! We couldn't believe it all happened within a matter of a few hours! We had told Wyatt that he couldn't come on Friday because his daddy had a big sale, but that it would be great if he came Saturday...and he did!:) Hopefully a sign of things to come:) And having the baby about an hour after arriving, wow! Praise God for His protection and His sweet blessings!
